Share Your World – 23rd April 2018

I haven’t participated in Cee’s Share Your World for quite a while but I used to enjoy it and figured it would at least give me something to write about and get me back here on a semi-regular basis.  So, almost a week late I know, here are my answers to this week’s questions:

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get?

This is actually quite a tough one for me.  My first thought was CHOCOLATE!  After all, I love chocolate … and cake … and biscuits, well anything sweet, but I’m not sure I’d want an endless supply of it.  I think that an endless supply of either chicken or mince would be quite good.  I mean, they are so versatile and I use both regularly when making dinner each week.

List at least five movies or books that cheer you up.

Films:  any Disney/Pixar film but especially the Cars and Toy Story films; Love Actually; The Holiday;  The Santa Clause films

Books:  Harry Potter; The Large Family books by Jill Murphy, I used to love reading these to Adam when he was little; Anne of Green Gables; James Herriott’s All Creatures Great and Small series of books; Little House on the Prairie books

If you were a mouse in your house in the evening, what would you see your family doing?

Watching TV (catching up on all the programmes we’ve recorded whilst my husband has been on late finishes) and my son on his computer looking up Disney parades etc on YouTube.

What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?  Feel free to use a quote, a photo, a story, or even a combination.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 42

I have been a bit quite on my blog for the past few weeks and even slipped up on my Share Your World posts.  Here is this week’s post (week 42) and I’ll try to catch up with the ones I’ve missed.

What would be your preference, awake before dawn or awake before noon?

I prefer to be up and about as early as possible but I definitely couldn’t wake up before dawn too many days in a row.  I am usually up between 7 and 8 am depending on what I need to do and what time I need to be somewhere.  At the moment, dawn is 7.30-ish so I guess I’m up before dawn.  I’m definitely not up before dawn during the Summer months though.

If you could choose between Wisdom and Luck, which one would you pick?

Wisdom – I like to know my choices are made from knowledge and intuition rather than rely on making a lucky choice.

If you were given the opportunity for free skydiving lessons would you take them? Why or why not?

I’d love to skydive 🙂

Is the glass half empty or half full? What is in the glass?

The glass is always half full.  I like to have a positive view of things.  The glass would have water in it.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 36

It’s week 36 of Share Your World 2014.  Thank you, Cee for more great questions.

Do you prefer reading coffee table books (picture), biographies, fiction, non-fiction, educational?

I love reading and read a lot of fiction.  I enjoy biographies, non-fiction and educational/work related books too.

What is your biggest fear or phobia? (no photos please)

I’m not sure that I have a big fear or phobia but I really don’t like mice/rats.

What is your favorite cheese?

What is your favorite month of the year?

Any month when it’s hot.  Usually June, July or August, providing it doesn’t rain too much.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 35

Here we go with another week of Share Your World.  Thank you Cee for some more great questions.

Have your blogging goals changed?

I guess they have.  When I started my blog in 2006, not on WordPress, I was at Uni trying to juggle home, study and work.  Now, I’m still trying to juggle home, study and work but my blog has evolved, I can’t explain how but it has.  I have answered this question before – once in April 2013 in response to a Daily Post Prompt and again as part of Zero to Hero earlier this year.

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?

I’d love to try the trapeze.

If you could go back and talk to yourself at age 18 what advice would you give yourself?  Or if you are younger than 25 what words of wisdom would you like to tell yourself at age 45?

Don’t stress about the A-Levels, everything is going to be fine.  You’ll still get your degree, just 17 years later.

What is your favorite comfort snack food?

Share Your World – 2014: Week 34

Here we go with Week 34 of 2014’s Share Your World.  More great questions, thanks Cee.

What is your favorite smell? What memory does it remind you of?

Freshly baked bread.  When I was 7 we went to live in Malawi and one of our favourite things was to go to meet my Dad from work on a Saturday lunchtime because we would go to the bakery next door to his office and buy a freshly baked loaf of bread.  My sister and I would then sit in the back of the car eating it.  I would start at one end and my sister at the other.  We always ate the soft inside first and then the lovely crusty outside.  I’m not sure my mum appreciated the crumbs in the back of the car but she shouldn’t have given it to us if she didn’t want the crumbs, should she?

Name a song or two which are included on the soundtrack to your life?

“You had me from Hello” by either Michael Ball or Kenny Chesney because since my husband and I moved in together within 3 months of meeting and then got married 2 1/2 years later I guess he must have had me at hello.

“It’s my life” by Bon Jovi

Do you play video/computer game?  Which one(s) or most recent?

I don’t play many computer games but if I have a few minutes to spare I’ll usually play one of the games on Facebook.  I’m also playing Big Business on the iPad.

Which of Snow White’s 7 dwarfs describes you best?  Plus what would the 8th dwarf’s name be? (Doc, Happy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey)

Probably Bashful as when I first meet people I can be quite shy.  The 8th dwarf?  Hmm… Titch – he’d be the smallest.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 33

Are we really on week 33 already?  Where’d the year go?  Anyway, thanks as always to Cee for the questions.

Do you believe in ghosts?

I’m not sure.  Let’s just say that just because I’ve never seen one doesn’t mean that there aren’t ghosts.  I went to a school which was, apparently haunted but I never saw or felt anything that others said they did.  I heard lots of stories about the chapel bell being rung whilst prefects were doing their last lock-up checks but no-one being anywhere near the bell rope.  In the house of one of our teachers some people felt a “presence” and a chill on the stairs.  We apparently had a headless horseman in the Old Coach House but, like I said, I never saw or felt any of them.  It doesn’t mean they aren’t real though.

My mother-in-law said that she saw a ghost and I can’t disagree with her.  So, I guess I’ll keep an open mind.

Irregardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility:  If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?  Or if you can’t picture yourself playing sports, what is your favorite sport?

Probably swimming.  I loved swimming as a child and really should do more of it.  I loved trampolining too so maybe gymnastics or trampolining.

Do you prefer long hair or short hair for yourself?

Long.  Apart from when I was about 7 when I decided to cut my hair, it’s always been long.  Well, shoulder length or longer.  It really doesn’t look good short.

If you were on an small island, who would you want to be with? And where is it?  How big is it?

How long would I be on this small island?  Does the island where I live count as a small island?  The UK is a small island right?  OK, assuming I can’t count the UK as the island, I would be with my husband and son at Disney’s Castaway Cay on a visit with the Disney Cruise Line.  One day, I’ll be there 🙂

Share Your World – 2014: Week 32

Here is this week’s Share Your World post.  Another week which is within the right one 😀  Thank you Cee for some more great questions.

Do you prefer ketchup or mustard?

Definitely ketchup and, as the advert on the tv says, it has to be Heinz

If someone made a movie of your life would it be a drama, a comedy, a romantic-comedy, action film, or science fiction?

It would probably be a mixture of all of them, well maybe not science fiction, but it would definitely have aspects of drama, comedy, romance and action.

If you could be given any gift what would it be?

The knowledge that my son is going to be OK and no-one is going to take advantage of him due to his learning disability.  That is the one thing that really scares me now he is growing up and has left school.

For potlucks or parties do you cook it yourself, buy from a grocery store, or pay for catering?

I always bake something, usually muffins, gingerbread or brownies.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 31

Woo Hoo!  I’m actually posting my Share Your World post in the correct week.  Only just but still, it’s in the right week 😀

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three guests be? (guest can be dead, alive, famous or someone you just know)

Oh, this is tough.

  1. I think, being a huge Disney fan, I’d definitely have to include Walt Disney.  I’d love to find out if the Disney parks are all he wanted them to be or, maybe, better than he envisioned.
  2. I never met my maternal Granddad as he died 4 months after my parents’ got married so I think I’d have to invite him too.
  3. Mark Harmon, or any of the NCIS cast.  They always seem like they are having so much fun on the DVD extras.

What can you always be found with?

Unless it is really warm (over 20C) and the sun is out, I will always have a cardigan or hoodie.  If there’s no sun, I’m cold – even at 25C+

What is the most fun thing you did in school?

Trampolining.  I even helped coach the younger kids when I was in the 6th Form.

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

Oh my, this one has me stumped.  I’m sure I do lots of things differently than most people but at the moment, I really can’t think.  Hmm…when sitting on an office chair, I’ll sit with one of my feet curled up under me and sit on it.  I know it’s not good for circulation but it is comfortable for me.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 29

I think this is, finally, my last catch-up post for Share Your World – week 29.

Have you ever been in a submarine?  If you haven’t, would you want to?

No, I haven’t been in a submarine.  I would love to go in one though.

Are you a listener or talker?

I’m more of a listener than a talker.

Do you prefer crunchy peanut butter or smooth peanut butter?   Anything with your peanut butter?

I don’t like peanut butter.

Have you ever been drunk?

No, I haven’t been drunk.  I don’t drink alcohol at all as I don’t like the taste.

Share Your World – 2014: Week 28

Another catch-up post for Share Your World – week 28.

Have you ever been a participant in a parade? What did you do?

If you were handed free opera tickets, would you go or sell them? Why?

I’ve never been to the opera so I’d probably go just for the experience of going.

Why did you start your blog?

I started my blog more as a journal to record my thoughts than anything else and it just grew from there.

What is your favorite tradition? (family tradition, church tradition, whatever)

At Christmas we don’t open presents until everyone has had breakfast, got dressed and cleaned their teeth and I have put the turkey in the oven.   We also take it in turns to open presents.  I like this tradition as it means that it takes longer to open the presents and we don’t have long to wait for dinner.  This was one of my family’s traditions and I brought it into my new family when I got married.  My husband didn’t like it at first as his family had always got up and opened presents first thing but then he’d feel that everything was over.  Now he likes that it takes so long.
