Journal Jar 7: Books

What is your favourite book?  Tell us about your favourite books as a child, teen and adult.

I’ve already answered part of this question as part of Cee’s Share Your World as she asked

What’s one of your favourite books from childhood?

I answered that in week 12.

As I said in that post, I don’t have any single favourite books.  I have favourite series of books or favourite authors which I will keep going back to.  As a child it was Enid Blyton for The Faraway Tree, Noddy, Amelia Jane, Wishing Chair, Famous Five, Secret Seven, Malory Towers and St Clare’s; The Little House on the Prairie series and Anne of Green Gables.  As a teen I read James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small series of books and am just starting to re-read it again.  I also discovered Sweet Valley High and other teen romance books – they were great for a quick read, not to be taken seriously.

As an adult, I still like a lot of the Young Adult fiction and enjoyed the Harry Potter books, Twilight (yes, it was a guilty pleasure), Alex Rider by Anthony Horowitz and the Time Riders series by Alex Scarrow (I’m waiting for the 9th and final book with bated breath!).  I also like Lee Child’s Jack Reacher and practically anything by John Grisham.  My guilty pleasure?  The same as when I was a teen, quick read romance 🙂

  1. Nothing wrong with reading some of the YA fiction, there is a lot of good stuff out there! I just love reading though, I’ll give most books a go!
