Look at that Sunshine

I’m not talking about the weather, although we have had a bit of sunshine in between the rain.  It seems that awards breed.  No sooner have I accepted the Liebster Award than I get nominated for the Sunshine Award too.  Thank you 20/20 Hines Sight. sunshineaward After a little search around the blogosphere, I found out that the Sunshine Award is given to those who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.  I do that?  Really? So, as with any of the blogger nominated awards there are rules.  These are: The rules for accepting the Sunshine Award:

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog
  • List 11 facts about YOU!
  • Nominate 10 other blogs to receive the award
  • Announce the nominations to the nominee

11 facts about me:

  1. I am a Virgo and a pig (Chinese astrology)
  2. I returned to education in 2004 to get my degree and graduated in 2007.  I promptly got a job as a PA and returned to administration instead of trying to use my degree in Sport and Exercise Science or Sports Therapy HND.  I discovered while I was studying that I love paperwork!
  3. I broke both wrists whilst ice skating in 2006, 17 years (almost to the day) after my mum broke both her wrists whilst horse riding.  I don’t do anything by halves.
  4. I love Disney, I know you know this but thinking of 11 things is hard.  I have visited Disney World 5 times, Disneyland Paris 4 times and Disneyland once.
  5. I took my driving test 4 times and have had a full, clean licence for over 20 years.
  6. I met my husband when he taught me to drive – no he was not my instructor for all 4 tests.  He taught me between tests 3 and 4.  I haven’t stopped learning to drive though, there’s always something to learn when you travel in a car with a driver trainer 😛
  7. I am very proud of the fact that I don’t have any fillings at the age of 42.  I hate going to the dentist in case he tells me I need one.
  8. I don’t like tea or coffee.
  9. I love chocolate and cakes.
  10. I live in York.
  11. My family moved a lot when I was growing up so I went to boarding school.  We lived in Australia, Bahrain, Malawi, Botswana, Hong Kong and Zimbabwe.

I’m sorry to say that the blogs I nominate for the Sunshine Award are going to be the same, plus a couple, as I nominated for the Liebster Award.  I say “plus a couple” because I found new blogs that I like, they make be laugh, chuckle or smile every time I read one of their posts.

My nominees (should they choose to accept) for the Sunshine Award are:

Jessie Cakes
Super Mom is Dead
Baby Gates Down
The Ellieverse
Deb’s World
Midsummer 365 Project
Lisa Buck
Capture You Photography
Damsel in a Dress
Literarylydi

On my search for information about the Sunshine Award, I also found a number of pictures which are used, so pick one you like 🙂

  1. Yay! Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! I don’t know that I’ll get to doing the accepting post in the very, very near future – but I love that you thought of me.

And Disney? I had no idea 😉 I can’t wait until we hit the stage where my kids are old enough to appreciate Disneyworld in a few years….. Until then we just have the movies on repeat over here.

  3. 😀 thank you so much for my nomination 🙂

You live in York? did I know that? I can’t remember…anyway, I love York! We used to go there a lot when I was a child / teenager / home form uni! I grew up just outside Hull 😀 (well, no I didn’t actually grow up…but I lived there a lot)

    • I live in York now. We came up on holiday when my son was about 3 and loved it so decided to move. The area we were living in down south was not the nicest of areas and we could trade up without spending any more on a mortgage – actually saved money 😀 I grew up, no, I went to school in Croydon while I lived elsewhere. When someone asks me where I’m from I never know what to say. Is it where I was born? Where I spent most of my childhood – do I really have to say where I went to school? – or where I live now? I truly was/am a mixed up kid!

      • I now live near Horsham, and when I met my husband he was working in Croydon… I miss some parts of Yorkshire sometimes but apparently I now sound almost complete southern!

      • Hee hee. What a small world! We have friends who live down the road from us who are from Croydon and Reading! (my husband is from Basingstoke).

Some people think I am from Yorkshire but others say they can tell I’m from the south somewhere. Most of the time it depends who I am speaking to as to which part of my accent comes out. I lived in Southern Africa from a lot of my childhood so if I meet someone from South Africa or Zimbabwe I just slip back into it. One set of grandparents was from Yorkshire and the other set was from Scotland so I was influenced by their accents too. Oh, and my best friend from school was from San Francisco so I have the odd Americanism too 😛

      • Hehe it is a small world!

I am a bit of an accent chameleon so people can’t generally tell where I am from, except when I say things like “bath” or “castle with my short “a”s

  4. Wow this was really interesting! Please do a post about your first meeting and your first date! An unusual way to meet the love of your life, as long as he didn’t er, drive you up the wall!
