Zero to Hero: Day 17

I’ve previously said that I’ve been enjoying Zero to Hero.  Now?  Not so much.  It is starting to feel very repetitive.  Whilst I understand that it is important to expand your reading, and commenting, of other blogs as well as writing your own, it feels like that’s all I’ve been doing this week.

Day 11: Today’s assignment: leave comments on at least three blogs that you’ve never commented on before. – That was actually quite hard for me as I think I’d commented on most of the blogs at some point or other so I had to find new ones.  Very time-consuming.

Day 12: Today’s assignment: write a post that builds on one of the comments you left yesterday. Don’t forget to link to the other blog! – Not as bad but still quite hard as when I leave a comment on a blog it isn’t necessarily a topic that I want to write about on my blog.  Fortunately, I’d commented about parkrun so just regurgitated a couple of past posts.  That was OK for me, I have quite an extensive archive but if I’d only just started blogging?  I think I might have left Zero to Hero.

Day 14: Blogger’s Choice but the suggestions were:

  1. More commenting! Leave at least three comments on blogs. These don’t have to be new-to-you blogs — feel free to comment on sites you love.
  2. Spend time in the Reader, or in your whatever blog reader you use! Adding a topic to your Reader or following a blog is just one step — actually reading is the next. Spend at least 10-15 minutes clicking on the topics you’ve added. You might discover new blogs to follow; you might stumble upon a post you completely disagree with; or you might fall into a rabbit hole, clicking here and there, reading intriguing discussions on topics that excite you.

Day 17: Today’s assignment: read six posts written in response to yesterday’s prompt, and leave comments on at least two of them.

Since I came to yesterday’s prompt later than usual (I only posted it this morning!), I found it hard and time-consuming to go through blogs to find posts written in response to the daily post prompt.  I mean, let’s face it, I’m quite late with this one!  Here I am at 4.05 pm finally getting round to looking at the prompt from yesterday and today’s is due to be posted in less than an hour!

To be fair, I did find two posts written in response to the prompt in my reader.  Thank you!  But I really didn’t want to trawl through all the zero to hero and daily post tagged blogs to find posts which a lot of people would have written 2 days ago.  So, I read the two from my reader and commented on those, I liked the posts enough that I probably would have left comments anyway but I’m not sure I like being told to find specific posts to comment on.

I’m not new to blogging but if I was I think I’d have given up a while ago. Then again, I’m thinking about going through it again with a new blog which my husband and I are about to start doing but next time taking it slow. Maybe trying to do one task every other day or so.

I’ll have to pop over and check out your blog.
