Today’s daily prompt, wow I’m on a roll! Well, actually it’s yesterdays because I always get these things a day behind when I get my daily email.
Is it possible to be too honest, or is honesty always the best policy?
I think there are times when you can be too honest. I mean, if you are late for a meeting, for example, just apologise for being late and state a simple reason. I don’t need to know every little detail about it. Also, when I am talking to my husband on the phone or Skype, my son will tell me to “tell Dad …” It is annoying because it may be something that I don’t want to tell him today, or ever, or it may be something that he really doesn’t need to know when he isn’t here so can’t do anything about it anyway.
However, as Mark Twain said
If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything
So, honesty is probably the best policy but you don’t have to give every little detail, unless you are asked for it.
