Does Standing Collecting Money Count as Exercise?

Yesterday, I asked if standing collecting money in the cold counted as exercise. It was a rhetorical question as I would have said no and I wasn’t about to claim exercise points/calories for standing up for 5 hours. Although, standing up does burn more calories than sitting down.

As it happens, I could have claimed yesterday’s money collecting as exercise. It was so cold that I spent a lot of my time walking on the spot, doing leg curls and calf raises. When I got home and looked at my pedometer, I’d done 8,980 steps! Huh? How? I guess all that fidgeting added up. Oh, and the fact that I had to walk from one end of the shopping centre to the other to get a hot drink to warm me up.

  1. 🙂 Funny how we sometimes thinks we’re not actually doing that much but really we are, isn’t it?
