Diet and Fitness Record – 08.10.10

I am using this as a place where I can be accountable for what I am eating/doing in order to try and lose 10-15lbs before my 40th birthday trip to WDW next year.  I was going to start this on 1 October 2010 but didn’t get round to setting out my goals for the month so I am going to do that now along with what I have done in the past few days.

I use www.sparkpeople.com to record my nutrition and fitness as well as keeping a record of my weight, measurements and calculating my goal nutrition values in line with the amount of weight I want to lose in a given period and the exercise goals that I have. My current calorie range based on losing 2lb by the end of October 2010 with 30 minutes of cardio exercise per day (210 minutes per week) is between 1380 and 1730 calories.

My starting measurements at the beginning of October 2010 were as follows:
BMI: 24.9
Fat %: 30.1
Chest: 37″
Waist: 29″
Belly (the flabby bit between waist and hips): 37½”
Hips: 41.75″
Thigh: R: 25″ L: 25.75″
Calf: R: 15.75″ L: 15″
Bicep: R: 13.5″ L: 13.5″

My exercise/nutrition log are as follows since 1 October:

01.10.10 – didn’t log my food or do exercise as I had a migraine

02.10.10 – Nutrition: didn’t stay in range, Water: 9 cups, Fruit/Veg servings: 5, Exercise: 22 minutes walking (1.3 miles), Steps: 6497

03.10.10 – don’t have a log for this 😦

04.10.10 – Nutrition: stayed in calorie range, Water: 8 cups; Fruit/Veg servings: 4, Exercise: 29 minutes run/walk (2.19 miles) 30 minutes walk, strength training, Steps: 10,858

05.10.10 – Nutrition: stayed in calorie range, Water: 8 cups; Fruit/Veg servings: 4, Exercise: 35 minutes swimming (2000m), Steps: 8,275 (including allowance for swimming at 181 steps per minute)

06.10.10 – Nutrition: stayed in calorie range, Water: 8 cups; Fruit/Veg servings: 5, Exercise: 31 minutes run/walk (2.39 miles) 30 minutes walk (1.78 miles), strength training, Steps: 11,230

07.10.10 – Nutrition: stayed in calorie range, Water: 8 cups; Fruit/Veg servings: 5, Exercise: 30 minutes swimming (1680m), Steps: 6532 (including allowance for swimming at 181 steps per minute)

My exercise plan for this week was as follows:
Monday: Run:Walk 3:3 minute intervals x5 (30 minutes)
Tuesday: Swimming – just get in and do a continuous swim for as long as I am allowed in the pool from when I get there
Wednesday: Run:Walk 3:3 minute intervals x5 (30 minutes)
Thursday: Swimming – swimfit.com Fitness Programme 27
Friday: Run:Walk 3:3 minute intervals x5 (30 minutes)

On top of this exercise I also wanted to add some walking (weather permitting) and 3 strength training sessions. As I work at the weekends, I use Saturday and Sunday as my rest days.
